About the author:
As 2024 winds down, Cambridge Dictionary named “manifest” as Word of the Year 2024. The word refers to’ the practice of using methods such as visualization and affirmation to help you imagine achieving something you want, in the belief that doing so will make it more likely to happen’, as noted by the publisher of the British dictionary. However, this term does resonate with a growing movement in health and wellness. In its simplest form, manifest is synonymous with bringing one’s goals into reality through focus and action.
In the context of health and wellness, “manifest” offers a unique lens through which we can view our aspirations. It challenges us to ask: What kind of health do I want to manifest, and how do my daily choices align with that vision?
Wellness is Not Just a Wish
Manifesting wellness is more than just visualization. While imagining yourself thriving is a powerful first step, it must be coupled with deliberate action. Think of it as planting a garden: envision the blooms, but don’t forget the seeds, water, and sunlight.
For example:
- If you aim to manifest better physical health, this might mean creating an exercise routine, prioritizing sleep, or seeking regular medical checkups.
- If mental wellness is your goal, perhaps it involves mindfulness practices, setting boundaries, or seeking therapy when needed.
Manifesting Clarity in Healthcare
Health isn’t just about individual effort; it’s shaped by our interactions with the broader healthcare system. Here, “manifest” takes on another meaning—to make evident or visible. For physicians, patients, and other stakeholders, manifesting clarity in communication is key. Clear diagnoses, transparent treatment plans, and understanding patient goals all contribute to improved outcomes.
Aligning Intentions with Reality
2025 is the perfect year to redefine what wellness means to you. Use “manifest” as both a mantra and a method. Write down your health goals, articulate what success looks like, and identify small, actionable steps. Celebrate each milestone, no matter how small, as evidence that your vision is becoming reality.
By focusing on what we wish to manifest—stronger bodies, clearer minds, or more compassionate healthcare experiences—we can turn intention into transformation. Let this word of the year inspire a year of health, balance, and progress.
